Rod Brazier

Deputy Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Mr Brazier is responsible for the Development, Multilateral and Europe Group, within DFAT. Mr Brazier chairs the Development Program Committee.



Previously Mr Brazier was First Assistant Secretary, International Division, within the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. Before that Mr Brazier was Australia’s High Commissioner to Solomon Islands from 2016-2019 and Deputy Director-General of the Office of National Assessments from 2014-2016.



In Canberra, he has served as First Assistant Secretary, East Asia Division, DFAT; Assistant Director General, Indonesia and East Timor Branch, AusAID; and Senior Adviser, International Division, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.



Prior to joining the Australia Public Service Mr Brazier has spent 13 years working for The Asia Foundation in Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia, and for the private sector in Jakarta.
